World Premiere of "Astral Dick" the Theatre's Absurdest Whodunnit!

Dan Lawler in Astral Dick

THURSDAY, MAY 24, 2012 through SUNDAY, JUNE 10, 2012

"Astral Dick" does not require hope. There is no believing necessary. It is a certainty! It's already happened... well, after tonight anyway.

Come out to the Electric Lodge in Venice, CA and see James Mathers' absurdist whodunnit play, involving a police psychic and his paranormal guinea pig as they investigate a string of brutal deaths centered around the temple of a rogue religious cult and an artsy-fartsy open mic poetry cafe, as directed by Hanna Hall.

The play runs from Thursday, May 24 through Sunday, June 10, 2012. Shows are Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00pm, and Sundays at 3:00pm.  Tickets can be purchased through Brown Paper Tickets or, if you like to live on the edge, at the door.

"Astral Dick" is produced by Carbon Copy Productions, and stars Marc Hickox, Paul Tei, Kaytlin Borgen, and Dan Lawler. The theatre will be adorned with paintings by the author, and original artwork copies of the play will be available for purchase.

Dan Lawler is available for you Voice Over needs!

In 2006, during the filming of "The Unobtrusive Plot", director Gregory R. R. Crosby and supporting actor Dan Lawler got to talking about the narration of the comedic, middle-ages short film.  Well, Crosby and his friends at Lost Heart Productions decided that Dan's character abilities and baratone voice made him a perfect candidate for the job, even though he would already be appearing on-screen in that same film as a different character!  All said and done, "The Unobtrusive Plot" is a funny, irreverent commentary on how reality influences fiction, and vice versa.

Later that year, Dan went on to voice a leading role in "Est Mori", a machinima annimation project by student director Nicholas Werner. And that made it official; Dan Lawler was a voice actor.

Since 2006, Dan has voiced over a dozen radio commercials along with a handfull of short films. And, beginning in 2011, Dan will be selling his own original recordings of literary classics via Amazon.com. (Details on those to come in a later post).

But that's not why we're here. We're here because Dan has a pair of new Voice Over Demos! You can check them out below or, if you're casting or producing a project, check me out at Voice123.com

New Movie Poster For "Angel Falls In Love"

Angel Falls In Love introduces the film community and the world to it's lead actress Brandy Ingram, and the newly-released movie poster follows suit.

Angel Falls In Love (2011) Movie Poster            Writer / Director Dan Peterson calls  the  film "a subversive indy love story". Ingram plays "Angel", the title character who is "an aimless young woman, forever scarred by a childhood  tragedy,  currently  existing  in  a drunken 420 haze with her abusive boyfriend but finds... a young man".

The  new  poster  was  designed  by graphic  artist  Jason  Street,  under  direction from Peterson. Look closely: Angel has wings!

Street has also been working with Dan Lawler on developing the poster for Searched Fear (2009).

Angel  Falls  In  Love  is  just  barely beginning its film festival journey, but upon the film's completion, festival accomplishments and further distibution, Peterson's Backroad Pictures has plans for another film. Production for "Pretty" is set to begin in Summer 2011, with  Kayla Tabish   rumored  to  again  have substantial envolvment with the project.

(( ...or read below and use your imagination like a good little boy. Your call. ))

We open on me as Mr. Eat-Your-Face-Head. I attempt to eat Jaime's face, and head. After a few seconds of that, Jaime begins directing, and I am along for the riiiide!.. As we feel out the software, we pass by a lil' character named Speedy MacDoogal. He's a quick one. Eventually, we see Roadie Bill; he smells like goat cheese. We finally get to say hello to excited little Speedy MacDoogal! He sure is a quick one. After that, Horse-Neck Steve morphs into Arnold in Instant Recall. And then.. is that... Mexican Speedy MacDoogal?! He looks like a quick fella... And then, finally, we relax and meet Dahn. Unfortunately, Dahn comes down with the Deadly Wiggling Tumor disease rather quickly. Not to worry though, all Dahn has to do is suck juuust enough life-juice out of Jaime's soul, and he gets to be a real boy again!.. And that real boy is none other than: Speedy MacDoogal. We watch as Speedy wakes up in the morning, and he becomes more and more adventageous and personable! In their final words, Dahn and Speedy merge and are both eliminated by headshots from dodgeballs.

Searched Fear

A couple years back, everybody's favorite something-or-other Dan Lawler worked on a short Sci-Fi Horror Thriller film, titled Searched Fear. Dan played the hot-headded, foul-mouthed, gas-mask-wearing, "Echo Five", and did so sporting the largest gun on the set (see below!). The film was directed by a young, up & coming director by the name Nathaniel Johnson. There are zombie-type creatures, very large weapons, lots of falling ammo, possibly even more blood... and just a general good time for the whole family!

The film debuted at Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank, CA after its completion. You can see the trailer for the film here : Watch Trailer.

The word on the street is that there is funding being prodcured at this very moment, and a larger-scale, larger-budget version just may be in the works for the somewhat-possibly-kinda-near future!

Check out the details & keep your ear to the web-stone for the possible forthcoming release!
